What I Like About Eu! ...calyptus
On the days I dress up in my Koala onesie, I like to use Eucalyptus… Noooooo that’s ridiculous! But my Koala onesie is adorable.
Discovering Eucalyptus oil upped my bronchial healing game to the max! In conjunction with oregano and tea tree I really only feel the symptoms for the first 24-48 hours. Like oregano oil, eucalyptus is a powerful antibacterial and antiviral instrument. Now the extra benefit that it has on top of oregano, is that it acts as an expectorant. It is an antispasmodic, so it suppresses dry coughing, but boosts the productivity of wet coughing to rid the body of phlegm. It helps you cough stuff up! Think of it as nature’s Mucinex. You can see how this obviously was a must add to my kit and should be to yours as well!
With it’s grease fighting properties, adding this to any cleaner along with lemon oil will cut through anything and keep any surface in your house germ free and smelling fresh. Since it works well on foot odor, it’s great for freshening shoes and laundry. For laundry, add a few drops to a wet rag and throw in the dryer with your freshly washed clothes. For shoes, put a few drops on a dry rag, insert into your shoes, and leave in the sun OR you can combine it with baking soda and sprinkle into your shoes. Leave either method in for 24 hours and then remove/shake out. Works like a charm!
With children, like peppermint oil, use sparingly and consult a physician if they have any reactions. Always dilute 0.5% for children under age three, and 1% for ages 3-10. Never use on a child’s face under 10 even with these dilutions.
In addition to it’s respiratory benefits, eucalyptus is a highly effective cleanser which cuts through grease and skin oils. It relieves itchy scalp and prevents dandruff, plus is great for cleaning hands and feet.
